The SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art opens up a new world with its big versatility to lots of photographers out there. With the focal length range and constant F2.8 aperture you can basically take this lens out to everywhere and let your creativity shine.

When I first got my hands on the lens I was surprised how compact it was with its size and weight. That is always a nice thing to experience with the type of photography that I do. Keeps my camera bag even lighter. It is also really important for me how a new piece of technology feels in my hands when taking photos. What I mean is that I don’t have to make some extra moves with my hands when I’m changing focal length or adjusting the focus manually. The lens felt very convenient and it was easy to use when I was out in the field.

The biggest game changer in my opinion is the tighter end of the focal length range (70-105mm) and the constant F2.8 aperture. With the focal length you can go an extra mile, for example when you want to get closer to the subject than 70mm then you don’t have to change lenses. You can just zoom in to 105mm or whatever you need and take the shot. Also the wide aperture gives you nice shallow depth of field and make important details come alive.

The tighter end of the focal length and F2.8 aperture working together also open up the world for portrait photography. The subject can be isolated from the background and therefore creating nice depth through the photo.

The F2.8 aperture also allowed me to capture moments in low light conditions. Getting that extra light hitting the sensor really makes a difference in the end and gives you more freedom in limited light conditions.

Photos captured with the F2.8 aperture were very sharp and that is what I am looking for in an excellent quality lens. If I can shoot wide open it makes me confident about capturing moments out in the field and I can focus on making my visions come to life.

As you can see the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art lens really opens up lots of possibilities. This makes it a super versatile lens for different scenarios.

Because there are lots of different scenarios that you can capture with this lens, I decided to take it out to one of the most versatile and beautiful locations in Estonian nature…Põhja-Kõrvemaa Nature Reserve. This place has always inspired me and every time I see something new to take photos of or some new ideas pop into my mind during the visit.

There are beautiful and powerful forests all around with some hilly terrain landscapes. In the forest you can find different lakes and islands in the middle of it. Next to the forest you can find a big heather field that usually starts blooming in August. Also you can find one of the most photogenic bogs in Estonia out there. When the conditions are right, the bog gets covered with thick fog in the mornings. It is one of the most surreal and mystical experiences I have experienced over many times when being out there just by myself to watch the first light rays land on the landscape. All these different beautiful landscapes are connected with hiking trails and camping spots. I think it was a perfect location for the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art lens because there are lots of different views and details to capture. I set up my camp in the middle of nature and went hiking with the lens to capture whatever attracts my eye.

During this kind of outdoor activities, the focal length the lens provides comes very handy. I could capture some wider scenes and also get very close to some small nature details to see the life we usually don’t see and miss. When I was enjoying my time in camp I took some overall camping vibe shots. If enjoying the outdoors with other people you could also easily capture some portrait scenes or photos when people are doing different outdoor activities.

Overall I can say that I am a nature photographer but the previous 3 years I have spent much more time capturing landscapes during day and night. I love simple and pure beauty of natural landscapes and this is what makes me passionate about it. I don’t like to limit myself, therefore I capture moments of whatever my eyes see when I’m outdoors wandering around. I love real and simple things in life.

My photography is strongly connected with hiking, camping and traveling. Spending time outdoors in the middle of nature sounds and environment calms my body and mind. It helps me balance my life more and makes me feel good. Therefore I can be a better person in everyday life to people that surround me.

Traveling abroad has always inspired me. Seeing how diverse life can be in different parts of the world is inspiring and eye opening. Photography wise I feel when I am capturing an environment that is totally different than my homeland I always learn something new on the way. Bringing this new knowledge to my photography workflow makes me a better photographer in the end.

When I am capturing photos, everything begins with the ability to see what is going on around you. How you see the details of the landscape. How light is working and how you can connect the different elements in one photo to tell the story. In nature I can’t rush myself like we are maybe used to in our everyday lives. When I rush then I miss those simple and beautiful moments. I think it is the most important as well as hardest skill to master — the ability to see. Luckily nature also teaches me to take it easy and take my time. In the end I will remember those adventures and experiences even better and they form memories that I will remember all my life. Photos captured are just the cherry on top of the cake.

I really think that the new SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art lens brings more versatility and possibilities into my photography world. In the end I think you can’t go wrong when choosing this fantastic lens. It offers amazing photo quality and allows you to capture many different moments when being out there creating memories.
